Bedraggled and persevering

"I am surprised that this gull was flying as well as it was; its feathers appear quite damaged.  I tried looking up what type of gull it was, but gulls have juvenile plumages, and winter plumages, and juvenile winter plumages, and first summer plumages...I gave up, because none of them seemed to fit.  But Paul was a bit like that, too: hard to identify from the outside, all things to all people, held over in places when he intended to move on...and the gull, like Paul, could have been identified by its voice.  And I particularly love how the Lord, coming to Paul in his difficulties did NOT say "It'll be OK; your trials are almost over!"  The message was to "Take courage!"  It was both a promise that He would be with Paul, and a warning that Paul would need the level of courage that could only come from a personal visit from the Lord!" —photographer and BSF class administrator Kim Haugen

Hebrews

The letter to the Hebrews was written to answer critical, pressing questions about the Old Covenant versus the New Covenant, and also to strengthen people who could see persecution coming. Christians of all times and places must clearly see Jesus, the “author and perfecter of their faith” (Hebrews 12:2), their “great high priest” whose sacrifice of Himself saved them forever and brought them access to the presence of God. The power of this letter invigorates all who trust the Lord Jesus for life forever—and for right now. How has studying Hebrews this year helped you understand the person and work of Jesus Christ?

Country of the Week: Hong Kong

BSF has 7 growing classes in Hong Kong.  God answered prayer this last year by allowing the prayer group for a second men's class to move to the pilot stage.  This pilot class is about to conclude on May 22 and is taking registration for the Genesis study in the fall. They will become the 8th established class in this country! Please pray that God calls and trains new leaders for the growing needs of all these classes.
