News From Nigeria
BSF classes continue to grow in areas where Christians are facing persecution. Here is the latest report from our Global Ambassador Vivian Rogers, serving in West Africa:
Our children’s programs in West Africa continue to grow in size. We started September with 481 children/students. In March we showed enrollment of 775 children and students. This amazing growth is taking place as opposition against Christians is increasing. Insecurity at churches is a reality every Nigerian Christian faces. Just last week, a car bomber drove into a church in Kaduna, a city with our newest class and a prayer group for an evening men’s class. This opposition is drawing West Africans to God and His Word with fervor and courage. What others mean for evil God uses for His good. Please pray for safety in our Nigerian classes, for the protection of the churches and families.
Share Day
Many BSF classes ended their study of Genesis this week with Share Days/Nights. This came to us from Ellen, the Children's Supervior for the Evening Women's class in Bryan-College Station, Texas. She is pictured here with some of the children's leaders in her class.
We had share night at BSF and my favorite thing was to hear several ladies share that they used to read the Bible like a history book but BSF has taught them how to apply it to their lives!
Storm in Oklahoma
BSF headquarters grieves with the people of Moore, Okla., and their families after the devastating tornado on May 20. BSF has a Day Women's Class and an Evening Men’s Class in Moore. The area advisor there reports that leaders and their immediate families are safe. A group leader in the men’s class lost his home but is praising God for protection of his family. Leaders are still working to account for all class members. The host church for the women’s class has become a shelter, and BSF leaders are working to take food to the church for the people staying there. The community and the host church have already received an overwhelming response from volunteers who want to help. Pray for an ability to quickly and efficiently organize the volunteers in a way that will best meet the needs of the people. Pray as well God will enable our leaders and class members in this hurting community to be a source of comfort to the men, women and children with whom they have contact. May their words and actions be a message of love and support, and point to a loving God and Father.
